Emergency services have been called to a crash that has blocked the southbound lane of the Christchurch Northern Motorway near Lineside Road this morning.

Police said the single vehicle crash was reported shortly after 7am and diversions are in place.

Initial indications are there are moderate injuries.

Police said motorists should expect delays and thanked drivers for their understanding.
