Crankworx Christchurch will return to the global mountain biking stage in February 2027, bringing four days of elite competition, community events and youth opportunities to Christchurch Adventure Park.

The festival will run from February 18 to 21 and will once again help launch the Crankworx World Tour in New Zealand before the international series moves north to Rotorua in March.

The Christchurch schedule will include the opening round of the Slopestyle Super League with the Ōtautahi Slopestyle, alongside Redemption Downhill, AirDH and Jump Jam.

Organisers said the 2027 festival would build on the success of the previous event, with new opportunities for young riders and the wider community to participate and connect with mountain biking.

A festival expo will also return, giving spectators the chance to explore new mountain biking technology, equipment and products while watching the competition and enjoying food at the venue.

ChristchurchNZ general manager visitor economy Anne Newman said Crankworx had established a unique place on the city’s major events calendar.

“Crankworx has carved out its unique place on Christchurch’s major events calendar, bringing together elite competition, community participation and youth development opportunities in one of New Zealand’s premier mountain biking destinations,” Newman said.

“We’re proud to partner with Crankworx and Christchurch Adventure Park in sharing our slopes with the globe, showcasing Ōtautahi Christchurch as the ultimate natural playground for endless endorphins and good times.

“ChristchurchNZ looks forward to an exciting programme in 2027 and welcoming athletes and spectators from around New Zealand and the world.”

Crankworx first arrived in Christchurch through the Crankworx Summer Series New Zealand in 2021, before the city hosted its first full Crankworx Christchurch festival in 2025.

The event brings together Canterbury riders and international athletes while showcasing Christchurch Adventure Park and the region’s growing mountain biking culture.
