A heartwarming fundraising concert is set to take place in Christchurch later this month in support of a much-loved local performer seriously injured in a car crash.

“Molls Dolls,” a well-known tap dance performance group made up of dancers aged 23 to 82, will take to the stage on Saturday 31 May at the Aurora Centre at Burnside High School for a special variety show.

The event has been organised in support of Hayley Toso, a life member of Molls Dolls who was involved in a devastating head-on car crash earlier this year.

The accident left her with life-altering injuries and ongoing mobility challenges. She is currently unable to walk unaided and remains uncertain whether she will ever dance again.

Hayley’s fellow dancers are determined to rally behind her.

“She’s part of our Molls Dolls whānau, and we want to do what we do best — perform, and raise money to support one of our own,” the group said.

The concert will feature a wide range of performances, including award-winning tap dancers from Molls Dolls, kapa haka groups, Samoan cultural performances, singers, and other variety acts.

Broadcaster Chris Lynch will serve as the evening’s MC.

More than 700 guests are expected to fill the venue, with raffles and silent auctions also planned to raise further funds to assist Hayley with ongoing medical and living costs.

“We’ve all been devastated by what happened to Hayley,” organisers said. “Life has changed dramatically for her, and we’re working hard as a group to ease the burden.”

The show is expected to be a vibrant and moving evening that showcases Christchurch’s community spirit, talent, and commitment to looking after its own. Tickets are on sale now, and organisers hope for a full house in support of a dancer who has given so much to her fellow performers.
