24 Hour Surgery in Christchurch is experiencing high demand, with longer wait times for non urgent patients.

In a public update on Sunday, the clinic said large numbers of people had been coming in, which was putting extra pressure on staff and resources. The clinic has been under strain for the past two weeks.

“All patients are triaged to assess their care needs, and patients whose needs are urgent will be seen with priority,” the clinic said.

They are asking people to check the comments on their Facebook page for updates on expected wait times.

The clinic reminded people that they can also call HealthLine on 0800 611 116 for advice before attending. Telehealth consultations through practiceplus.nz are another option, with same day appointments often available.

For emergencies, people are advised to call 111 or go directly to the emergency department at Christchurch Hospital.
