A person has been seriously injured after a crash on State Highway 8 at Shingle Creek, north of Roxburgh, this morning.

A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the scene about 7.20AM.

A single vehicle had left the road and crashed down a 25 metre bank between Waikaia Bush Road and Eliot Road.

One person was seriously injured and is being airlifted to hospital.

The highway is blocked and motorists are advised to expect delays.
