Cantabrians are pushing themselves through a 24 hour fitness fundraiser in support of Cholmondeley Children’s Centre.

Fit for a Cause, presented by 2degrees, began at Anytime Fitness Cashmere from 8AM on Friday, and  runs through until 8AM on Saturday.

Teams will take part in the relay style event, cycling, running and walking around the clock, with organisers aiming to raise $50,000.

Among those taking part, 2degrees Regional Manager Ebony Wilson will spend seven hours on a stationary bike from midnight until 7AM.

“We’re incredibly proud to be supporting Cholmondeley Children’s Centre through Fit for a Cause again this year. The work they do for Canterbury children and families is nothing short of amazing.

“At 2degrees, our purpose is Fighting for Fair, and that means showing up for moments exactly like this. Seeing people give their time, energy and determination over 24 hours to support Canterbury children is inspiring, and we’re looking forward to helping smash the $50,000 fundraising goal.”

Former and current Canterbury sporting stars are also expected to take part to help raise awareness and funds for the charity.

For more than a century, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre has provided respite care and support for Canterbury children and families facing significant challenges.

All funds raised from the event will go directly towards supporting the centre and the children and families who rely on it.
