A body has been located in the Boyle River in the Hurunui district this afternoon.
A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com police were notified at around 3:15pm that a helicopter assisting with a search in the area had located a body.
It’s understood emergency services were first called at 2PM after reports of a person being swept into the Boyle River off the Lewis Pass Rd.
While the formal identification process is yet to be completed, it is believed to be the man who was swept into the river earlier this afternoon, the spokesman said.
“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this tragic time.”
