One person rescued off Timaru Coast, another still missing

One person has been pulled from the waters off the coast of Timaru this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services received a report at 4.30 pm.

Another person is still missing.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said one patient is in a moderate condition and is being transported to Timaru Hospital.

Police said the missing man had been swept out in the current at the beach at Seadown, near Beach Road.

Police, Fire and Emergency crew, ambulance, Coastguard and a Westpac rescue helicopter were involved in the search.
