Christchurch police have arrested one person tonight following an AOS call out.
A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch the Armed Offenders Squad had been attending an incident at Pines Beach to assist local police in relation to a person of interest.
She said the person has now been taken into police custody.
There were existing warrants to arrest.
Members of the public have reported seeing dozens of police cars heading to the scene, including a police command unit.
Residents near the scene said they saw an ambulance and a “handful of police.”
