A bride and groom, who had only just sealed their wedding vows, are among those injured in a helicopter crash in Windwhistle.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash at the Terrace Downs Resort golf course in Windwhistle just after 3pm.
There were four people on board, including the pilot, a photographer, and the newly married couple.
Two people were seriously injured and two people have moderate injuries.
Two rescue helicopters were called to the scene.
Director of Operations CPG Hotels Ronnie Ronalde told Chris Lynch it was a perfect day at the resort and the couple had just performed their wedding vows in front of 100 guests made up of family and friends.
After the ceremony had taken the couple boarded the helicopter that was to take them to a nearby mountain top to get photos taken.
Mr Ronadle said the helicopter had taken off and was above the tree lines, when it suddenly dropped crashing to the ground.
Mr Ronalde was walking outside not far from the accident site, when two golfers raised the alarm.
He was one of the first on scene and comforted the injured until emergency services arrived.
6 hotel staff members were also helping at the scene providing blankets and support.
The helicopter was a robinson r44 and is owned by local family company Wyndon Aviation.
On its website it says it’s a Civil Aviation Authority licensed, locally owned and operated small family helicopter company operating in Christchurch from more than 30 years.
