A Christchurch man who has worked at a technology company for nearly 20 years is devastated after being made redundant.
Christchurch-based technology company Syft Technologies will reduce its staff numbers by around 20 percent in response to lower-than-expected sales.
It’s understood 17 jobs have been lost in total, along with 13 advertised jobs cancelled.
Certain roles in the company have also been restructured.
The wife of a man who has worked at the company for nearly 20 years told Chris Lynch Media they are reeling after the being told of the news.
“He’s still trying to get his head around all of it, I am so angry.
“My husband is the bread winner in our family, so it’s a very difficult time we are going through.”
Syft Technologies makes hi-tech chemical sniffer machines and designs and manufactures a revolutionary Mass Spectrometer that enables detection of gaseous chemicals.
