Christchurch police are yet to make an arrest following what they’ve described as an unprovoked assault on Oxford Terrace
in the early hours of 31 January.
But they say progress is being made.
A man was punched by another man causing the victim to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.
The victim became unconscious and was transported to hospital.
Police want to find this ‘man.’
A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch “no arrest at this time – we continue to investigate.”
“The investigation is ongoing and the investigation team continue to make enquiries to identify the offender.”
“We’ve had a good response from members of the public so far.”

“However we are still seeking any information from members of the public who can assist us in identifying the man or who have information on the assault.”
“As we’ve previously stated, given the large numbers of people who were in the area at the time, Police believe members of the public may have videos or photographs of the assault and/or the offender.”
Anyone who has information about the assault is encouraged to contact Police on 105 quoting file number 210131/5776. Information can also be passed on anonymously through Crimstoppers on 0800 555 111.
