A dog who was missing after the fires at Lake Ohau Village is now reunited with its owner.
Milo the Kelpie went missing in the early hours of Sunday morning, while a fire ravaged her family home.
Owner Norm and his heartbroken wife were concerned about Milo and where she was.
Fire crews were briefed every day to keep an eye out for her and try to catch her if possible.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said “today was the day when Milo decided she would much rather go home. “
Murray Cairns, Volunteer Support Officer from Ashburton was on the fire ground delivering resources when he caught sight of Milo.
He tried to call out to her and after a few tense minutes waiting for Norm to turn up, owner and kanine were finally united.
The spokesperson said “we are so relieved that EVERYONE has been safely removed from the fire ground and Milo has been reunited with her family tonight. We are sure she will be spoilt with lots of pats, hugs and treats for days to come. “ Pictured – Milo and Murray Cairns
