A man suffered moderate injuries after falling off a balcony at a popular inner-city Christchurch bar.
A St John Ambulance spokesman said they received a call to Fat Eddie’s on Oxford Terrace at 12.57AM on Sunday.
Fat Eddie’s owner Max Bremner said “an idiot tried to go from Fat Eddies to Sin (next door bar) the fast way to impress his mates.”
“He climbed over the rail.”
“Our doormen sighted him, but by the time he got there, the man had slipped – went down feet first and hit canopy then pavement.”
“Mr Bremner said, “I hear that he has minor injuries and the police said we did everything right.”
St John Ambulance spokesman said the man was transported to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries.
A Canterbury District Health Board spokeswoman was unable to confirm if he was still in the hospital but said Christchurch Hospital’s Emergency Department had a very busy Saturday night.
