Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash involving a motorcyclist on the Lewis Pass.

A police spokesperson said the crash happened near Magdalen Valley Road and involved a single motorcycle.

“Initial indications are there are serious injuries.”

“Emergency services will be closing the road while they attend the scene”

Motorists are advised to expect delays from Hanmer Springs to Springs Junction or avoid the area if possible.

NZTA said another updated was expected at 6pm.
