Emergency services are responding to a crash on Tram Road off ramp in Kaiapoi, Waimakariri.

The two-vehicle crash was reported around 3.40pm.

Initial reports indicate one person has sustained injuries.

The road is blocked and diversions are in place.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, if possible. 

Drivers say traffic heading south has come to a standstill.
