Police are treating a house fire in Rangiora as a crime.

Emergency services were called to a house fire on Southbrook Road in Rangiora at 1.20am on Friday.

A police spokeswoman said nobody was injured in the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

“Police have determined the cause of the fire but will not be commenting on that at this point in our enquiries.”

Chris Lynch Media understands Molotov cocktails were through at windows of the house.

Police wouldn’t confirm this but did say there is currently no information to suggest it is gang-related.

If anyone has information which could assist Police enquiries in relation to this fire, they’re asked to contact police on 105 phone service or online at https://www.police.govt.nz/use-105, using Update My Report. Please reference file number 220902/9072.
