The Provincial Growth Fund wallet is about to be opened again this week, with marae up and down the country set to benefit.

Newstalk ZB news reports Regional Development Minister Shane Jones is expected to announce the biggest payout yet on Friday – around 100 million dollars.

It’s the last PGF handout before the election.

More than 300 marae will be upgraded after making applications to the fund.

It’s expected to create 3000 jobs.

In May the Government announced 900 million dollars for Maori in response to Covid19.

It announced the establishment of a $50 million Māori trades training fund, which is part of a wider Māori Employment Package of more than $200 million Government will work in partnership with iwi and Māori to help grow job opportunities in the regions together.

Newstalk ZB political editor Barry Soper told Mike Hosking this is about New Zealand First, Labour and Maori seats.
