One person has been taking to Christchurch hospital after their car went down a bank in Ferrymead.

Emergency services were called to the serious crash on Bridle Path Road, Ferrymead just after 3.10PM 

A St John spokesman says one patient has been transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The road is closed, with diversions in place.

Motorists should avoid the area and expect delays.
