A cyclist has been seriously injured in a crash in Avonhead.

A police spokesperson told Chris Lynch Media police were notified of a collision involving a car and a bicycle at the intersection of Avonhead Road and Worthy Street around 8:10am.

On St John’s Media Alerts on Twitter it reported that an an ambulance , rapid response vehicle and an operations manager.

One person was transported to Christchurch hospital in a serious condition.

There were no reports the road was blocked.
