An E-scooter rider has been seriously injured after falling off in the central city.

Emergency services were called to Durham Street near Lichfield Street at 10:30am.

A St John spokesman said the organsiation responded with an ambulance and rapid response vehicle.

A patient was assessed by ambulance crew and transported to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
