Police are investigating a robbery at a dairy on Effingham Street this afternoon.

A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com officers were called at about 2.15pm.

“It is alleged the offender has threatened a person during the incident.”

Police searched the area for the offender, but they were not located.

“Cordons were in place and armed staff were in attendance as a precaution.”

A nearby business owner told chrislynchmedia.com the shop owner was shaken by the incident but unharmed.

In June, the dairy was also targeted in an attempted break in, but the offender left empty handed after being unable to squeeze through the security cage opening at the counter.

Police are continuing enquiries to identify and locate the person responsible.
