Fire and Emergency crews are responding to a building fire at Gloriavale on the South Island’s West Coast.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand southern shift manager Simon Lyford told chrislynchmedia.com the alarm was raised at 8.55PM.

Fire crews from Moana and Haupiri were initially sent to the Christian community.

Another two crews from Brunner and Ikamatua were called after further information was received from someone at the property.

Lyford said the building measured about 15 metres by 20 metres and was approximately 50 per cent involved in fire.

Everyone at the property was safe.
