A 42 year old woman has been arrested after organised crime officers raided a property in the Christchurch suburb of Sydenham.

Police from the Tasman Organised Crime Unit, assisted by the Christchurch Organised Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at the property on Tuesday 4 August.

The operation was part of an investigation into the supply of methamphetamine from Christchurch into the Marlborough region.

Police also recovered stolen property during the search. The woman was arrested and charged in connection with the alleged methamphetamine supply.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Brent said the arrest was the result of officers working across police districts. “Methamphetamine causes a huge amount of social harm and has no place in our community,” Brent said.

“I am really pleased that we were able to disrupt some of the supply into the Marlborough area and hold this alleged offender to account.”

Brent said both Christchurch and Marlborough would benefit from the operation.

“I would like to thank all those involved in the investigation. This was the result of great teamwork across districts, and I believe the Christchurch community will benefit from this arrest just as much as the Marlborough community.”

The woman has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Christchurch District Court on 26 August.

Police are encouraging anyone with information about suspected drug offending to contact 105 online or by phone.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Anyone affected by methamphetamine addiction can contact the Alcohol and Drug Helpline on 0800 787 797 or text 1737 for support.
