Police are investigating two overnight commercial burglaries in Christchurch, including a ram raid on Main South Road.
Senior Sergeant Hamish Keer-Keer said officers were first called to a premises on Edgeware Road at about 2.20am after a group unlawfully entered the building using tools.
“The group targeted alcohol and cigarettes before leaving the area in a vehicle,” Keer-Keer said.
About 30 minutes later, at around 2.50am, police were notified that a vehicle had been used to enter a premises on Main South Road.

Police said it is not yet known exactly what was taken from the second premises, but it is believed cigarettes were targeted.
The offenders fled in a second vehicle, which was later found abandoned in the Riccarton area.
Police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.
