Man dies after electric scooter crash in Christchurch

A man has died after a crash involving an electric scooter in central Christchurch.

Police said they were called to Antigua Street, near the Burke Street intersection, about 12.10am on Sunday 21 June.

The scooter rider suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

He later died in hospital, despite the efforts of medical staff.

Police do not believe another vehicle was involved at this stage, but enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are continuing.

Police want to hear from anyone who was in the Antigua Street and Burke Street area at the time, or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage.

The man was wearing a light coloured jacket over a New Zealand Warriors top, blue jeans, and sneakers.
