Armed police were called to Stanmore Road in Linwood this morning after a report that someone had been seriously injured with a weapon.

Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison said police were called to an address about 11am.

“Police responded immediately and one person was taken into custody,” Ellison said.

While clearing the address, police found no other people present and no injuries.

Ellison said the validity of the report had not been upheld.

Police are speaking with the person taken into custody to establish the circumstances of the incident.
