Police are trying to identify the driver of a white car seen on CCTV at a fatal Burnside crash that killed a mother of five.

The driver stopped at the scene but left before emergency services arrived.

The single vehicle crash happened on Grahams Road about 10.50pm on Monday 27 April.

Police have the CCTV footage but cannot determine the car’s registration.

The car turned left onto Grahams Road from Wairakei Road shortly before the crash.

A police spokesperson said they want to speak to the male driver, who they believe may be able to help with the investigation.

The woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken to hospital where she later died.

She was described by a family member as a “young, beautiful, and wonderful mother.”

Anyone who knows the registration of the white car, or who was driving it, can contact police through 105 online or by phone, referencing file number 260428/3012.
