A 21 year old man has been charged following a fatal crash involving a car and a cyclist in Sumner.
Emergency services were called to Evans Pass Road about 5.30pm on 22 February after reports of a crash.
The cyclist was taken to hospital with injuries, but later died on 4 March.
He was named as 60-year-old Dr Ian Huntsman, from Redcliffs.
“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
Christchurch police said a 21 year old man was arrested and charged after a scene examination and further enquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
He is due to appear in Christchurch District Court on 9 June.
The man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and failing to stop to ascertain injury.
