Two people are in a serious condition following a car crash in Shirley.

A St John spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com they were notified of the incident around 9.30am at Briggs Road and Palm Drive.

They said two ambulances responded to the scene.

“Our ambulance crews treated and transported two patients in a serious condition to Christchurch Hospital,” they said.

A police spokesperson said it was “reported to have crashed into a stationary car”.

Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
