A 43-year-old man has died at Tāhunanui Beach this evening.

A police spokesperson said emergency services responded to a report of a person unresponsive in the water, shortly before 8pm.

“Attempts were made to resuscitate the man, but sadly he has died.”

Police are making enquiries on behalf of the Coroner the spokesperson said.
