A person has died following an incident at a property in Papanui this afternoon.

Acting Senior Sergeant Dougall Struthers said police were called to Main North Road at about 2.40pm, where a person was found in a critical condition.

“Despite best efforts by emergency services, the person died at the scene.”

Struthers said the death was being treated as unexplained.

“Police are now working to establish what exactly has occurred.”

Members of the public may notice an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue, he said.
