Fog at Christchurch Airport has forced the cancellation of numerous flights this morning, disrupting travel for passengers and affecting scheduled services.

Christchurch Airport Communications Manager Sean Tully said there is always a follow on effect from cancellations.

“If a plane can’t land, the next take off for that aircraft is impacted.”

He said there were 11 outbound cancellations and 13 inbound cancellations.

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman confirmed fog in Christchurch early this morning disrupted some services.

“That has now started to lift, and we are resuming normal operations.”
