Police have confirmed that a body has been discovered in the Whitewash Head area near Scarborough this morning, but say it is not believed to be that of missing 17-year-old Marley.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene around 11:50am.

Multiple witnesses told Chris Lynch Media they saw at least six police vehicles racing to the area.

While formal identification has yet to be completed, Police said in a statement to Chris Lynch Media the deceased person is not believed to be Marley, whose disappearance has prompted widespread search efforts in recent weeks.

A police spokesperson said members of the public should avoid the area while inquiries continue.

Police have advised there would be an ongoing police presence throughout the day.

The circumstances surrounding the death have not yet been made public.
