Christchurch police are investigating a sudden death in Beckenham.

A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com that officers were called to Eastern Terrace at 8.20am on Saturday.

One local resident said the street was lined with police cars.

“There’s a trailer with shovels, and they’re setting up a tent,” the resident said.

A portable toilet was also delivered to the scene.

Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and enquiries were continuing.
