Crime spree ends with stolen car on fire in Christchurch

A crime spree, including two aggravated robberies across Christchurch, ended with a car fire in Casebrook overnight.

As first reported by chrislynchmedia.com, police were called to a commercial premises on McGregors Road at about 11.40am on Saturday.

Three offenders entered the store and attempted to steal items but were unsuccessful. They fled in a silver Nissan Primera, reported stolen earlier that morning.

A short time later, police received a report of three people with weapons entering a premises on Stanmore Road. The offenders threatened an employee before taking cash and cigarettes and fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

At about 9.10pm, police were called to Sharnbrook Drive, where a vehicle was reported to be on fire.

No employees were injured in the robberies, although police said they were understandably shaken by the incidents.

Police are investigating all three events, which appear to be connected.
