It might not be rugby season, but the SPCA in Christchurch is celebrating its own team of “All Blacks” – a charming line-up of black cats and kittens all ready for adoption.

SPCA staff member Kelsea Nelson-Cummins said the shelter currently had a “flavour of the month” in the form of sleek, glossy black felines in need of new homes.

Among them is Damien, described as “absolutely stunning” with a fluffy coat and a personality that staff affectionately say comes with a hint of “cattitude.” Nelson-Cummins does not see it that way. “I reckon he’s absolutely smoochy. Gorgeous baby ready for a loving home,” she said.

Also waiting is Vulca, a single black kitten who is already winning hearts. “She’s absolutely stunning. She’s been a bit unwell, but she is now all ready to go to her new beautiful home,” Nelson-Cummins said.

And for those looking for double the love, there is Hiccup and Astrid — a bonded pair who must be adopted together. “They get separation anxiety if we separate them, so they have to go together, which is really sweet. They’re absolutely smoochy and gorgeous,” she said.

Anyone interested in adopting Damien, Vulca, or the inseparable Hiccup and Astrid can contact the SPCA in Christchurch or visit their Facebook page and website for more information.
