A fire at a Christchurch Lone Star restaurant in the early hours of Friday morning has caused “damage”.
Manchester Street Lone Star owner Trevor Casey told chrislynchmedia.com “there was a minor fire above the women’s toilets in the ventilation system”.
“The damage is minor but it is still damage,” Casey said.
A member of the public said there were three fire appliances onsite around 7.15am, with some of the fire crew wearing breathing apparatus.
Casey said the building owner is currently assessing the damage, and the team is waiting on an electrician to reconnect the power.
“On a positive note, the building is safe and we hope to be open as usual today,” Casey said.
A spokesperson for Fire & Emergency NZ was unavailable to confirm details of this morning’s fire.
