Christchurch Police have released new CCTV images in a renewed appeal for information about missing 79-year-old Elisabeth ‘Lis’ Nicholls.
The images show Lis at the Chateau on the Park in Riccarton at approximately 7.54pm on Wednesday 4 June — her last confirmed sighting.
Since she was reported missing, police and searchers have carried out door-to-door enquiries, reviewed CCTV footage, searched the Avon River, and conducted extensive follow-up investigations.
On Thursday morning, police deployed a drone across the Riccarton and Hagley Park areas between 8am and midday. The footage is now being analysed.
“Despite these efforts, we have not been able to find Lis,” a police spokesperson said.
“We, alongside Lis’ family, are seriously concerned for her wellbeing and are appealing to anyone with information to please contact us.”
Police are urging residents in the surrounding area to check their properties thoroughly, including backyards, sheds, sleepouts, and any other areas where someone may have sought shelter.
They are also calling on anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or video footage from the Riccarton or Hagley Park areas between 6.40pm on Wednesday 4 June and 8am on Thursday 5 June to review it and contact police if Lis appears in the footage.
Police say that while Lis went missing in Riccarton, she is physically strong and may have walked some distance.
Anyone who sees Lis is urged to call 111 immediately. Non-urgent information can be submitted at 105.police.govt.nz by selecting “Update Report” or by calling 105. Please reference file number 250604/5465.
