A woman is facing serious charges after a heavy police presence responded to an incident in Addington on Monday afternoon.
A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com officers were called to Poulson Street around 3pm following reports of a person with a weapon.
Armed police attended the scene as a precaution, focusing their attention on a specific residential property.
Two people were taken into custody
The police spokeswoman said a 29-year-old woman has since been charged with breaching bail and with presenting “a thing likely to be, or believed to be, a prohibited firearm at a person.”
She was due to appear in the Christchurch District Court.
“No charges have been laid against the second person,” the police spokeswoman said.
An eyewitness earlier told Chris Lynch Media he saw a woman threatening a man with what appeared to be a gun.
“She yelled, “don’t make me shoot you” the witness claimed.
The woman was later seen being handcuffed by police at the scene.
No injuries were reported.
