A motorcyclist has died after serious crash in Upper Riccarton this morning.

The crash happened at the intersection of Riccarton Road and Hansons Lane.

The intersection of Riccarton Road and Hansons Lane remains closed and traffic management is in place. 

The crash, which involved a motorcyclist and a car, was reported to Police at 6.47am.

Lani Gerber said her children called her “quite upset as the bus couldn’t stop at Church Corner where they normally get off.”

“They said police and ambulances were everywhere.”

Medics had covered up the bus stop.

A police investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. 

The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene.

Police are thanking motorists for their patience while the scene examination continues.
