Three people have been taken into custody this evening after a police chase in Christchurch.

A Police spokeswoman says officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Deans Ave about 8pm.

She says the driver fled from police.

“Police followed for a brief time before abandoning the incident.”

The Police spokeswoman says the vehicle then crashed at the intersection of Deans Ave and Moorhouse Ave a short time later.

“This all took about one minute.”

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and there were no serious injuries.

Three people have been taken into custody – one of those people initially fled from police on foot. 

Charges have not yet been laid.
