A Christchurch driver has had a lucky escape after rolling their car near petrol station in Richmond.

Emergency services received a report that a car had flipped upside-down metres from the Challenge Station on the corner of Avalon Street and Hills Road at 11pm.

 Multiple fire appliances arrived on scene.

 A St John spokesman says an ambulance was stood down before getting to the scene.

 Police remain at the scene.
