Christchurch Police have arrested a man after he was seen on Langdons Road in Papanui carrying a knife.

He was apprehended near the Northlink shopping area just before midday.

A police spokeswoman said they were alerted to an argument between a man and a woman.

It was alleged the man had a knife.

A 20 year old man was arrested and will appear in court tomorrow.

He is charged with breach of bail, assault possession of an offensive weapon, threats to kill, and possession of cannabis.
