Power has been cut to over 2000 properties in greater Christchurch.

Areas affected include Halswell, Hornby, Islington, Lincoln, Prebbleton, Rolleston, Templeton.

The outrage has affected several industrial areas in Hornby and traffic lights in the area are also out.

The power was cut at 11.36AM.

An Orion spokesperson said “we are aware of a large outage.

“We have information that a branch has possibly fallen onto the line.

“Our operators are on their way to investigate if this is the reason for the fault.”
