Residents in Parklands are having their cars repeatedly damaged and stolen by a group of youths.
A Parklands local who had her car smashed in and ignition damaged told Chris Lynch Media the incident happened in her own driveway.
“We had to tape up the car with cover glass that was meant to be replaced the next day.
“But they came back and ripped out the ignition and tried to take it, but the battery was dead so it wouldn’t go anywhere.”
In a community Facebook group, residents have been sending in photos and video footage of the youths damaging and stealing cars, which is being collected to show police.
The Parklands resident says there has been a noticeable increase of cars damaged in the last few months.
“We have lived here 11 years and never had issues until now, I feel like it’s the same group of people doing it.
“Police just send a police report number, without doing any finger prints. It does worry me that when the car comes back they will try again.
The woman believes the damage is being caused by same group of youths.
“They’re not being caught, they keep doing it and it’s like the same pattern that happens over and over again.”
A meeting with the local MP representing Parklands is being organised to discuss the vandalism, along with other unlawful activities occurring in the area.
