A paraglider has been injured in a crash in Sumner.

A St John spokesman said they were notified of the incident in Sumner at 10:45 today.

One ambulance, one rapid response unit, and one helicopter have responded

Fire and Emergency crews from Sumner were assisting St John ambulance with the patient.

A rescue helicopter has also been sent to the scene.

It’s understood the paraglider’s canopy didn’t fully open upon take off causing the crash.
