Multiple Fire and Emergency crews are at the scene of a large house fire in Lyttelton.

Emergency services received the call to Bridle Path Road at about 2.30PM.

At least five appliances are at the scene.

Two fire trucks have had to stop further down the hill due to the small streets in the area.

Surrounding roads have been blocked off.

No one has been injured.

Nearby houses have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

A local eyewitness said the fire engulfed the house very quickly with the front of the house falling away.
