Emergency services are responding to an incident on Rotheram Street, Riccarton.

A police spokesperson said some properties have been evacuated as a precaution.

Fire and Emergency services are also at the scene and a Fire command unit and St John Ambulance.

A resident told Chris Lynch Media “an armed police officer knocked on our door on Rotherham Street telling us to stay inside.”

He said “I can see part of a cordon they’ve setup on the corner of Dilworth and Rotherham Street. There’s an ambulance and fire truck outside the cordon.
