Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Rolleston.
Emergency services were called to Jones Road, near Curraghs Road, at 11:45 AM.
One of the vehicles was badly damaged, and Fire and Emergency crews had to extricate a person from the wreckage.
A St John spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com two ambulances, two rapid response units, and a manager were sent to the scene.
Two people sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, while another two were transported to Christchurch Hospital in moderate condition, the spokeswoman said.
Police officers were required for traffic control duties, but surrounding roads remained open.
